Hello there, fellow crafters! Let me tell you a little story. My sister, with her love for all things quirky and handmade, straight-up asked me for a crochet snake. Not a scarf, not a blanket—a snake. And honestly, how could I say no? So, I grabbed my hook, picked out some colorful yarn, and got to work. The result? A playful, coil-y, totally huggable snake that’s equal parts cute and ridiculous. She absolutely loved it (of course!), and now I’m excited to share the pattern with you so you can make your own slithery companion.
Ready to join me on this fun and relaxing project? Together, we’ll create a one-of-a-kind crochet snake, complete with charming embroidered hearts for that extra touch of whimsy. Before we dive in, let’s gather our supplies, brew a warm cup of tea or coffee, and set up a cozy workspace. Materials Needed
Before diving into creating your very own crochet snake with embroidered hearts, Let's gather all the necessary supplies. You'll need your desired color of yarn, a crochet hook suitable for the yarn weight, a pair of scissors, a yarn needle, and stuffing material. Opt for soft, durable yarn to ensure your crochet snake is both cuddly and long-lasting. If you're planning on adding the embroidered hearts, you'll also need embroidery floss or yarn that contrasts or complements your snake's primary color.
If you're new to crocheting, consider practicing with scrap yarn before starting on your snake to get a feel for the stitches and tension required. Expert tip: Chenille yarn can be quite tricky to work with and unravel, so handle with care!

Using Chenille yarn
Round 1: 8 sc in mc (8)
Round 2: [sc, inc]x4 (12)
Round 3: [sc]x12 (12)
Round 4: [sc]x12 (12)
Round 5: [2sc, inc]x4 (16)

Round 7: 6 sc, inc, inc, 4 sc, inc, inc, 6 sc (24)
Insert safety eyes between row 6 and 7 leaving around 8 stitches in between
Start stuffing as you go but don't over stuff
To make the snake flexible and easy to bend, yarn over rather than yarn under and loosen your tension a bit.
Round 8: sc (24) Round 9: [4 sc, Dec]x4 (20) Round 10: [3 sc, Dec]x4 (16) Round 11: [sc]x16 (16)
Round 12: [2 sc, Dec]x4 (12)
Round 13-67: [sc]x12 (12)
Add more rows if you want to increase the snake length
Round 68. [4 sc, Dec]x2 (10)
Stuff as you go but be careful not to overstuff, as this can make it difficult to bend the snake. Once stuffed enough, close up the remaining opening with going through the back loop with a yarn needle, then weave in the ends for a seamless look.
Adding Personality with Embroidered Hearts
Embroidering hearts to your crochet snake not only adds a touch of charm but also gives it a unique personality. After completing the crocheted body, choose where you'd like to place the hearts. Use a contrasting color of embroidery floss or yarn to make the hearts stand out. If you're new to embroidery, practice on a separate piece of fabric to perfect your heart shape before moving to the snake.
The simplest way to embroider a heart is to create two chain stitches originating from the same stitch. If you're facing any difficulties with this step, don't worry! There are plenty of tutorials available online to guide you through creating simple hearts for your crochet snake.. The number of hearts and their placement is entirely up to you—let your creativity shine!
This video should explain it a bit better. Please feel free to DM or comment for any questions!!
Complete your crochet snake by adding the finishing touches of embroidering the mouth and tongue, if you desire to do so.
