Assembly
1. Close the top opening
- After finishing the last round, leave a long tail (at least 3× the height of your pumpkin).
- Thread your tapestry needle.
- Weave the needle through the front loops of each stitch around the opening.
- Pull tight to cinch it closed.
- Knot securely.
- This gives the pumpkin that plump, flattened look without creating ridges.
- Insert your needle from the top center straight through the pumpkin and out the bottom center.
- Pull tightly, and the top and bottom will start to indent.
- Insert the needle back up from the bottom to the top through the center again.
- Pull tight again to deepen the indent.
- Repeat this 2–5 times until you get the shape you like.
3. Secure the shaping
- Once you’re happy with the shape, make a tight knot at the bottom or top.
- Hide the tail by weaving it inside the pumpkin
